Ethiopis Tafara, VP and Chief Finance, Risk, Legal and Sustainability Officer (MIGA) Ethiopis Tafara is Vice President and Chief Finance, Risk, Legal and Sustainability Officer for the World Bank Group’s Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), joining in September 2019. He oversees MIGA’s Finance and Risk Management Group, Economics & Sustainability Group, Legal Affairs & Claims Groups, and partnerships. Prior to joining MIGA, Ethiopis served as Vice President and General Counsel for IFC, managing non-financial risk, including Legal, Compliance, and ESG functions, earning him the Financial Times Global GC 25 title in 2018. Before joining IFC, Ethiopis served as Director of International Affairs at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He practiced as a regulatory lawyer for nearly 20 years in international securities regulation and cross-border law enforcement litigation. Ethiopis has held leadership roles in the Public Interest Oversight Board, Financial Stability Board, the IFRS, and the IVSC. In 2019, he was appointed as a Public Governor on FINRA’s Board of Governors.
